The energy sector is developing rapidly. The process of European market integration began some years ago. Its purpose is to create a single European market that enables market parties to trade gas and electricity across national borders easily and efficiently.

Transparency data
We provide transparency data on our operations on our Dutch and German transparency page and on ENTSO-E.

Our vision is to be one of the most transparent Transmission System Operators (TSO) in Europe and thereby creating value for society. In this Energy Insights section we present selected energy related topics and show data, information and valuable insights.
Congestion management
The energy transition and economic growth are demanding more and more capacity from the electricity grid. In sparsely populated areas, for example, there are many requests for solar parks. Data centers and market gardeners are also requesting additional transmission capacity. As a result, the maximum capacity is being reached. This leads to a shortage of transport capacity in the electricity network. We call this congestion.
With congestion management, we allocate the limited space on the electricity grid. We do this at times when the demand for electricity transmission is higher than what the grid can handle. Is this demand too high at any given time? If so, customers will temporarily use or supply less electricity. The space that becomes available is distributed among other users of the electricity grid. This creates more space on the electricity grid.
