The energy sector is developing rapidly. The process of European market integration began some years ago. Its purpose is to create a single European market that enables market parties to trade gas and electricity across national borders easily and efficiently.

Transparency data
We provide transparency data on our operations on our Dutch and German transparency page and on ENTSO-E.
To transparency pagesE-Insights
Our vision is to be one of the most transparent Transmission System Operators (TSO) in Europe and thereby creating value for society. In this Energy Insights section we present selected energy related topics and show data, information and valuable insights.
Dynamic line rating
The transport of electricity heats the conductors through which the current flows. This heating causes conductors to sag, so there is a limit to the maximum transmission capacity of a high-voltage line. However, the weather can have a beneficial effect on the cooling of the conductors.
At low temperature, but mainly due to wind, the line is cooled more which results in less sag. In such a case, therefore, more power can be transported.
With the Dynamic Line Rating technique, the overhang and transmission capacity of a number of critical line segments of the high-voltage line is determined in a direct manner every 5 minutes. Based on this measurement data, it can then be determined how much additional transport can take place over the line in question. This method provides additional capacity if the high-voltage line is the limiting factor.
