Warning! Phishing campaign being carried out using TenneT’s name

Downloads & Contact

It has come to TenneT’s attention that a so-called ‘phishing campaign’ is being carried out via e-mail using the name of our organization. The subject line, the sender and the message itself all refer to renewal of the ‘CPS certificate’. The timing and method used and the content of specific e-mails suggest a targeted campaign, as your real certificate is indeed about to expire. TenneT itself will send out authentic e-mails about this subject. The party behind the phishing campaign is abusing these circumstances for fraudulent purposes. We recommend that you carefully validate any e-mails you receive before taking action. Do not open attachments or click on links, and contact the TenneT Customer Care Centre if you have any doubts.

What is ‘phishing’?

‘Phishing’ is the attempt to obtain sensitive/confidential information for use by malicious individuals. This can be done in various ways, including through e-mails, fake websites, phone calls, or via social media.

How to protect against phishing attempts?

The following tips will help you to protect your organization and systems against phishing attempts:

  • Carefully verify the sender of the message (name and e-mail address).
  • Verify the content of the message.
  • Do not open any attachments unless you are specifically expecting them.
  • Do not click on any links unless you are specifically expecting them and can trace them to a valid TenneT website.
  • Scan e-mails for viruses and malware before opening them.
  • Use a spam filter.
  • Make sure that all patches for your systems are implemented.
  • Do not use an account with administrator rights as your standard mode of operation.

Have you received a phishing message?

Help us limit the damage by reporting any phishing attempts via our responsible disclosure statement. We will collect your information and try to provide support. We can also keep you informed of any relevant developments.
