Arina Freitag starts as TenneT's new CFO

Downloads & Contact

Arina Freitag is the new Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the European grid operator TenneT as if 1 January 2022. Arina was previously Managing Director of Flughafen Stuttgart GmbH. Freitag succeeds Otto Jager, who left the company at the end of 2021.

"I am taking on this role of Chief Financial Officer at a particularly exciting time. This decade will require record investments in the energy transition in Germany, the Netherlands and Europe. This is the only way to achieve the ambitious goals and timetables on the path to climate neutrality. It is important that the regulatory framework clearly favors innovation and digitalization in the energy industry. TenneT, as a transmission system operator that connects the gigantic offshore potential of the North Sea with the industrial centers, will play a central role in the climate turnaround. I look forward to contributing my experience in the infrastructure sector and in dealing with strengthening political and social framework conditions to drive the energy transition", said Arina Freitag.

"With Arina Freitag, a proven expert in infrastructure financing comes on board at TenneT. She has more than twenty years of professional experience in finance and has gained extensive expertise in supervisory boards of large German infrastructure companies, where regulatory aspects and the political environment play a very important role. We are very much looking forward to working with her," said TenneT CEO Manon van Beek. At the same time, she thanks Otto Jager, who held the position from 2013 until the end of 2021, for his high level of commitment. He had made a significant contribution to TenneT's development into a financially sound and green-financed company.

Background: Arina Freitag was managing director of Flughafen Stuttgart GmbH from 2017 until the end of 2021. She started her career in 1998 at the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi as an economist. In 2001, she moved to Fraport AG as Head of Financial Communications and held various management positions here in the following years, focusing on finance, operations and regulation. From 2011 onwards, she was responsible for the economic management of the Aviation division of Fraport AG. In 2015, she moved to Deutsche Bahn, where she was responsible for marketing and sales at DB Netz AG.

The Supervisory Board of TenneT Holding B.V. appointed Arina Freitag as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at the end of August 2021. Link to the press release 02.08.2021: Arina Freitag to become TenneT's new CFO
