The Supervisory Board of TenneT Holding B.V. has appointed Arina Freitag as chief financial officer (CFO) of TenneT, the European grid operator whose main activities are in the Netherlands and large parts of Germany. Freitag’s appointment takes effect on 1 January 2022. She will succeed Otto Jager, who has been TenneT CFO since 2013 and in early 2021 announced his decision to leave the company.

"We are very pleased to welcome Arina Freitag, an extremely experienced, knowledgeable and energetic addition to the Executive Board”, said Ab van der Touw, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of TenneT Holding B.V. In her career, Arina has proven that she combines strong expertise in finance with excellent business judgment and the ability to deal with highly complex projects and demanding stakeholders. The Supervisory Board strongly believes that as CFO Arina will contribute to leading TenneT into the coming decade of record investments in the energy transition in Germany, the Netherlands and Europe.”

Designated CFO Arina Freitag said: “As CFO I can make an important contribution to further driving TenneT's key role in the energy transition. I’m looking forward to applying and developing my broad experience in infrastructure and dealing with challenging political and social environments to further TenneT's growth agenda. I am fascinated by TenneT's corporate mission and culture and am eager to help the organisation transform."

Arina Freitag (age 50) has more than 20 years of experience in the finance sector and in executive and non-executive board roles in major German infrastructure companies where regulatory topics and a political environment play an important role: Freitag has been Managing Director of Airport Stuttgart GmbH since 2017. She began her career as an economist at the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi in 1998. In 2001, she moved to Fraport AG as Head of Financial Communications and subsequently held various management positions with a focus on finance, operations and regulation. From 2011, she was responsible for Fraport AG as Senior Vice President Commercial Affairs - Aviation. In 2015, she moved to Deutsche Bahn, where she was responsible for marketing and sales at DB Netz AG.

Otto Jager will continue as CFO until Arina Freitag takes over the role on 1 January 2022. “Otto fulfilled the role of CFO successfully and with full dedication since 2013 playing a key part in the organizational and cultural transformation of the company. I am pleased he will continue to do so in the coming months, ensuring a smooth handover to the new CFO”, said Manon van Beek, CEO of TenneT.

“The Supervisory Board thanks Otto Jager for his contribution to the accelerated transformation of the organization”, said Ab van der Touw. “During Otto`s tenure TenneT has grown into a financially healthy and green-financed company that has a solid credit rating with a stable outlook putting it in an excellent position to tackle the growth of the coming years. With the arrival of Arina Freitag, we are making a seamless transition and positioning the company to drive the energy transition forward.”
